about

This is a chamber piece set for guitar and three male voices. It's one of my more traditional pieces, crossing the song of We Three Kings with parts of the melody to Scarborough Faire and a lot of open strings. The original epiphany song was written by John Henry Hopkins Jr. in 1857. A version of this singing arrangement also found it's way into my cantata.

A pdf of the sheet music for a version of this piece is included in the Cantata that is a pdf download with the full album download.

lyrics

We Three Kings of Orient are,
Bearing gifts we traverse afar,
Field and fountain,
Moor and mountain,
Following yonder Star.

Oh, star of wonder, star of light
Star with royal beauty bright
Westward leading, still proceeding
Guide us to thy perfect light

Glorious now behold Him arise,
King, and God, and Sacrifice;
"Alleluia, Alleluia,"
Sounds through the earth and skies.

Oh, star of wonder, star of light
Star with royal beauty bright
Westward leading,
still proceeding
Guide us to thy perfect light

- John Henry Hopkins Jr.

Fugli is a 23rd level AD&D 1e Bard. Really, he traded his time playing in copious tabletop RPGs for people paying him to sing and play silly (and also some serious) stuff. Tips gratefully accepted.
